State-Certified and Sworn Interpreter in Stuttgart
Arlette Errington is a consecutive and simultaneous interpreter, state-certified and sworn, working for various companies, courts, and private clients. She interprets between English and German in and around Stuttgart.
In 2019, Arlette passed the state examination at the Karlsruhe Regional Council (Regierungspräsidium Karlsruhe) and was subsequently sworn in at the Stuttgart Regional Court (Landgericht Stuttgart). Since then, she has worked for several local district courts in the region, the Stuttgart Regional Court, and the Higher Regional Court of Stuttgart. She is also appointed for court hearings in the United Kingdom that are conducted via video link. In addition, she enjoys interpreting at conferences and corporate events.
She also assists private clients at notary appointments and wedding ceremonies. Appointments in correctional facilities and psychiatric clinics are also part of an interpreter’s everyday work.
For Arlette, interpreting is not just a job but a passion. In court, every person has the right to be heard, regardless of the language they speak. This entails a great deal of responsibility. As an interpreter, one speaks on behalf of others, conveying their words and perspectives. To do this at the highest level, it is not enough to master both languages at a native level; one must also understand and convey cultural contexts. In the case of the English language, this extends not only to the United Kingdom and the United States, but also to countries in Africa or Asia. Quick responsiveness and flexibility are essential.
Reliability and availability are, of course, basic requirements. But a good interpreter goes one step further: preparing meticulously, speaking with judges or lawyers before a court hearing whenever possible, and sometimes even calming a nervous groom before his wedding ceremony.
